Take Action Thursday: Net Neutrality

Take Action Thursday: Net Neutrality

Looking to Take Action regarding Net Neutrality?

Below are two best ways that your voice can be heard and you can be a small change!

Right now, the FCC is taking comments (both for and against) on net neutrality again to get feed back from people (hence why this has been the topic this week).  This is one of the most direct ways that you can have your voice heard, since they are the organization who will make the big decisions.

If you click on the image below, it will take you to the FCC website.  You will see a box on the left hand side, you want to select the +Express option (see example).  It will then take you to a page where you give your name (it’s called Name of Filer), your email and mailing address, and then some brief comments.  Comments that make specific points will get a little more attention.  You can use any of the information we gave you this week in the brief comments (More Info Monday,  Two-Sided Tuesday or Worldview Wednesday). Then hit Submit.

2. CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES:  This one shows up every week – but you can contact your representatives daily if you wanted!  Remember, they work for you!

Net Neutrality is an issue that is addressed on a national policy level.  One of the most effective actions you can take is to contact your representative. You can find Your Representative Here.  You can use the script below for either emailing or calling them:

Hello, my name is _________________ and I live in  _________(town or zip code – they want to know you’re from their jurisdiction).  I am a constituent of Senator/Representative ___________, and I’m contacting you today regarding net neutrality.

I am very much in support of (OR) against instituting a policy of net neutrality because I feel (insert your reasons/feelings here – just say how you feel/what you think – feel free to use the information from this website to back you up – More Info Monday,  Two-Sided Tuesday or Worldview Wednesday).

I’m calling/emailing to see if Rep. _________ / Senator ___________ plans to publicly oppose/support these policies and what he/she plans to do about net neutrality.

(If you have additional concerns/reasons you can add them in)

Thank you for your time.

If you are looking to contact your representative to tell them to support net neutrality, the FreePress.net has made it very easy. Click their logo below to go to a pre-done letter; you just have to fill in your information.

It’s a big issue, but those are the two best ways to have your voice heard on this issue.
